When it comes to cleaning, I think it’s safe to say that we all have to find what works best for us and stick with it. Despite not having kids yet, Brandon and I are always busy. I am very lucky if I have an hour or two of time after dinner, dishes and whatever activity is required each day. So many times I intend to clean the house on the weekend only to wake up on Saturday and feel like the task is too monstrous to tackle myself! These days usually end with me shopping and feeling guilty later that I wasn’t as productive as I had planned to be.
This happens a lot more than I would like to admit.
So, the obvious solution for me is to space out everything I need to do over the entire week so the job isn’t too big. Let’s face it – sometimes you just want to relax on the weekend!
With this in mind, I set out on a journey to find the best cleaning schedule that I thought would work for me. Where did this journey take me? Pinterest, of course! There were tons of great ideas out there – and even better they were in lovely printable form…and some were just absolutely adorable!

But the more I looked the more I realized I couldn’t find one that specifically fit my cleaning plan. Most of the cleaning schedules out there listed a task for each day (i.e. Sweeping on Monday or Dusting on Tuesday). I definitely consider myself a visual person. When I clean, I love that moment when you can stand back and see that everything is spotless and in its rightful place. I like to tackle one room at a time and clean until it’s finished. With that in mind, this is the schedule I created for myself:
I selected each room based on how much time spare time I typically have each day to ensure I won’t get overwhelmed on a day that I don’t have a lot of time.
How about you? What is your personal “style” of cleaning? Do you wait until the weekends and end up shopping instead? Surely I’m not the only one… =)
