A Functional Entryway

I bought this little table right after Brandon and I moved into our house…

At that time, if something was pretty and reasonably priced…it came home with me right away!  Although I love the Coastal-ish accessories, the table is certainly not functional for an entryway.  I added the small Ikea shelf for a place to drop keys and sunglasses and bought a small hook for my purse (which currently has not been hung).  Although the shelf helps, this area is still not as useful as it could be.

So, I have been eying this shoe cabinet for quite sometime…

I love pretty much everything about this cabinet.  There is a nice shallow drawer at the top for mail sorting.  The back legs are missing for easy mounting above baseboards.  There are plenty of shoe compartments for the shoes Brandon and I wear the most.

Here are some inspiration photos that completely sold me on the idea…

I am all about functionality now that I realize you actually “live” in a house…you don’t just look at it!

So, do you remember that beautiful Mood Board from The Yellow Cape Cod….?

Since the entry way flows right into the living room, I want everything to be visually tied together.  My plan is to purchase the print from Cherish Me Designs and hang it in a silver frame (that I found on clearance at Target yesterday) directly above the cabinet.

Here is a quick design I put together to visualize what I have so far…

Hopefully we will have a chance to stop by Ikea this weekend and get moving with the transformation.

Don’t you just love Labor Day?  I hope you all have a safe and restful holiday.
